Lent, a time to reflect on God’s love for you, begins mid-February at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas (PRESS RELEASE) – This year, Valentines Day is also Ash Wednesday – reminding everyone of the ultimate love God poured out on us through Christ Jesus on the cross in His death and resurrection.

Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2024, starts the 40-day penitential season of Lent when we grieve our sins. This gives way to Easter when we celebrate Jesus’ victory over sin, death and the Devil that brings eternal life to you.

Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Heart of Lubbock Neighborhood will offer an imposition of the ashes during Ash Wednesday service at 7:00 p.m. The imposition of ashes reminds us of our mortality caused by sin.

“… For you are dust, and to dust you shall return.” – Genesis 3:19

It also reminds us, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses…” – Ephesians 1:7

Our theme for the midweek sermons will be the Lord’s Supper.
